American Guinea Hogs are a rare heritage breed hog native to the southeastern United States. As of 2005, there were as few as 16 of these hogs left in existance, but the breed is making a comeback on homestead farms around the country.
American Guinea Hogs are a small hog traditionally kept for lard and meat. Full grown they weigh between 200-250 lbs. They tend to be friendly and gentle which makes them perfect for a family farm.
Guinea Hogs are also known for their ability to forage and produce very tasty meat. Our pigs graze on pasture and root freely in our forest every day. Having a diverse diet makes Guinea Hog meat very rich and succulent, and they are one of 3 hogs listed on Slow Food USA's Ark of Taste.
